Returning pets to the UK
Written by Shiela Willoughby

Sadly my daughter and I have had to leave our newly renovated villa in Puglia as I became very homesick and can you believe missing my career. Although my daughter left Italy fluent in the language and I myself having made many beautiful Italian friends, I wish to bring to your readers attention to what happened to us when we returned to the UK with our Italian cat Lucy.

Mimosa
Written by Editor
The beautiful evergreen Mimosa (properly known as Acacia dealbata) flowers in late winter and early spring brightening the dullest of days with masses of fragrant golden flowers. A native of Australia, the Mimosa was first introduced into the Mediterranean in the 19th century by British botanists who believed it would survive in the climate. Mimosa is a feature in many parts of the Mediterranean including Puglia where they
are commonly grown for cut flowers. Mimosas are now so commonly planted that they have "escaped" and now grow wild.

Organics in the Vineyard
Contributed by Paola Radicchi

For anyone interested in sustainable organic/biologic gardening, we've done some homework into maintenance of a pesticide- and herbicide-free vineyard. As you may know, commercially farmed grapes can have very high levels of chemical residue, internally and externally, and in the US it's recommended to buy/eat organic grapes if you are pregnant or feeding young children. We'll use the terms organic and biologic interchangeably, biodynamic practices (using moon phase, signs of zodiac, and other traditional techniques) takes organic/biologic gardening to the next level, and deserves an article of its own.
