Cisternino News
Do you want to have a swimming pool? Well, OK then.
Councillor Vito Loparco, delegate for the Cisternino Council, who is responsible for “Urban Development” in the Cisternino district speaks to Journalist Donatello Caramia of the Magazine “Porte Grande”. Issue Number 7 (49) July 2009.
Is it true that it is now possible to build a swimming pool in Cisternino?
“Finally, in Cisternino, the Council Advisory Board, unanimously voted, on the 1st July 2009, in favour of granting permissions for applications to realise this type of structure within the Community of Cisternino; to be authorised by the relevant and qualified officials”.
So, what is the required procedure?
“It is possible with the presentation of the correct documentation, the D.I.A. (Denuncia Inizio Attività); in considering a swimming pool as part of a habitation; but respecting the general planning laws, sanitary norms and security regulations. It is in reply to a number of requests by our own residents and tourists; who are now able to qualify and therefore improve their own residence.”
What requirements must be respected?
“The swimming pool must be realised within the immediate vicinity of the property and not exceed a surface area of more than 40 m², with a depth of no more than 1.50 m². Otherwise, respect must be given to our territory. First and foremost the environmental aspect and the impact of these type of structures must be the least possible.”
Who has initiated this change?
“We have to thank the Council Advisory Board for being on top of times that we are living. A swimming pool represents an instrument that will guarantee that Cisternino maintains its position in the property market but it is also an occasion for development of the area. We are convinced however, that we have to acknowledge the reality of its impact and we must safeguard the natural beauty of the environment which must remain at the centre of our attention.”
